Full-flake garage floor coating

A textured, hard-wearing floor that hides dust, shrugs off hot tires and cleans up with a mop. Our most popular system.

What a full-flake floor is

A full-flake (or full-broadcast) floor is a multi-layer coating system. A pigmented base coat is rolled onto freshly ground concrete, and while it's wet we broadcast vinyl flake chips over the entire floor until no base color shows through. Once the base cures, loose chips are scraped off and a clear topcoat locks everything in.

The result is a floor with a granite-like look and a slight texture underfoot. It hides dust, tire marks and small debris far better than a solid color, and the chips add grip.

The layers

LayerWhat it does
Diamond-ground concreteRemoves stains, sealers and weak surface concrete and opens the pores so the coating can bond in.
Crack and spall repairFills damage so it doesn't show through or let moisture under the coating.
Penetrating base coatBonds into the slab and holds the flake. Tinted to match your blend.
Full flake broadcastVinyl chips cover the floor completely. Sets the color and texture.
Clear polyaspartic topcoatSeals the surface, resists hot tires and chemicals, and stays clear in sunlight.

Why flake works so well in North Texas

Garages here get hot, dusty and busy. A full-flake floor handles all three. The polyaspartic topcoat is built for heat and UV exposure, so it won't soften under hot tires or turn yellow when the door is open all afternoon. The pattern hides the fine dust that blows in every time the door opens.

Install timeline

  • Morning: grinding, crack and spall repair, cleanup.
  • Midday: base coat and full flake broadcast.
  • Afternoon: scrape, vacuum, clear topcoat.
  • That evening: typically OK for foot traffic.
  • About 48 hours: typically OK to park. We'll confirm for your floor and the weather.

Our full-flake floor is $5.50 per square foot (typical retail $6.75). See the full cost guide.

Questions about flake floors

How long does a garage floor coating take?

Most standard two- and three-car garages with our full-flake system are done in one day. You can typically walk on the floor that evening and park on it after about 48 hours.

Is it epoxy or polyaspartic?

Our full-flake system uses a penetrating base coat bonded into diamond-ground concrete, a full broadcast of vinyl flake, and a clear polyaspartic topcoat. Polyaspartic holds up to hot tires and won't yellow in sunlight the way many epoxy topcoats do.

Will it peel from hot tires?

Hot-tire peeling happens when a coating sits on top of poorly prepared concrete. We diamond grind every floor so the base coat bonds into the slab, and our work carries a 10-year written warranty against peeling and delamination.

How do I clean it?

Sweep or use a leaf blower for dust, hose it down when needed, and mop with a mild, non-acidic cleaner. Avoid citrus or vinegar cleaners on the topcoat.

Torginol Flake sample deck

Choose from 36 Torginol blends

Every full-flake floor we install uses Torginol vinyl flake, and every blend in the Torginol Flake sample deck is available. Tap a blend to see it on a floor.

Screen colors are approximations built from each blend's published chip mix. We bring the physical Torginol sample deck to every estimate so you can choose in your own garage light. The deck also shows Gracious in three chip sizes (1/4", 1/8" and 1/16") so you can compare scale.
